Purpose

The Map module allows users to view the location of company devices on an interactive map. GPS data comes from time clock punches made in the TRUE Time app — when a user punches in or out with location services enabled, that punch location appears on the map. The module also displays facility, quote, job, and contract locations on a centralized map interface.

Getting Started

The Map module is located in the Planning workflow.

  1. Click the ≡ icon in the upper left corner of the screen
  2. Select Planning from the main menu
  3. Click the Map tab

Device locations shown on the map come from time clock punches made in the TRUE Time app.

  • When a user punches in or out in TRUE Time, the app captures the device's GPS location if location services are enabled
  • A device only appears on the map if it has punch data with location services enabled
  • Devices that punch without location services enabled will not show a location on the map

Use the refresh button to update the map with the most recent GPS data.

  1. Navigate to the Map module
  2. Click the (refresh) button to reload device locations with the latest data

Tip: The refresh button updates all map data, including device positions, facilities, quotes, jobs, contracts, and time punches based on your current filter settings.

Map Display & Filters

The Map module provides toggle buttons to control which types of data are displayed on the map.

  • Click any Show button to display that data type on the map
  • Click any Hide button to remove that data type from the map view
  • Available toggles include: Facilities, Quotes, Jobs, Contracts, Assigned records, and Last Punches
  • Multiple data types can be displayed simultaneously to create a comprehensive view

The Map module can display multiple types of location data depending on your filter settings.

  • Device Locations: Locations captured from TRUE Time punches made by company devices
  • Facilities: Company facility locations configured in the system
  • Quotes: Job site addresses from active Quote records
  • Jobs: Job site addresses from active Job records
  • Contracts: Job site addresses from active Contract records
  • Assigned Records: Records assigned to specific users or personnel
  • Last Punches: Location of the most recent time clock punch for each device

Device Setup & Management

To have a device appear on the Map module, the user must punch in or out using TRUE Time with location services enabled.

  1. Download TRUE Time from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
  2. Install the app on the device
  3. Log in with the user's TRUE ERP credentials
  4. Enable location services for TRUE Time on the device
  5. Once the user punches in or out, the device's location will appear on the Map module

TRUE Time Integration

TRUE Time is available for both major mobile platforms.

  • Apple iOS: Download from the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad devices
  • Android: Download from the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets

A device's location only reaches the Map module through a TRUE Time punch.

  • Location Services Enabled: The device must have location services enabled for TRUE Time
  • TRUE Time Permissions: The app must have permission to access device location
  • Punch In or Out: A location is only captured at the moment the user punches in or out
  • Internet connection (cellular or Wi-Fi) is required for the punch to sync

If a device location is missing or outdated, check the following common issues:

  • No Recent Punch: A location only appears after the user punches in or out in TRUE Time
  • Location Services Disabled: Check that location services are enabled for TRUE Time in the device settings
  • No Internet Connection: Verify the device had cellular data or Wi-Fi connectivity at the time of the punch
  • App Permissions: Confirm TRUE Time has permission to access location
