Purpose

The PRO-TECH Integration streamlines the import of door and hardware specifications from Pro-Tech into TRUE. This integration is crucial for door hardware specialists who need to maintain accurate product data and pricing when creating estimates and material lists. PRO-TECH imports XML-formatted material release files containing door schedules, hardware sets, and detailed specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using PRO-TECH integration with TRUE

Import Issues

If your Pro-Tech XML file fails to import, verify the following:

  • Ensure the file is in XML format (not PDF or CSV)
  • Check that the file hasn't been modified after export from Pro-Tech
  • Verify the XML structure contains valid data
  • Large files with thousands of openings may take 15+ minutes to process
  • Contact support if the file appears correct but still fails

Note: Very large Pro-Tech files (40,000+ records) can take 25-30 minutes to import. Do not disconnect during the import process.

Yes. When importing Pro-Tech files, the system appends any value in the "Hand" field (like "RHR" or "LHR") to the product description. For example, a door might import as "671DR-3 x48 630 Touch Bar RHR" with the hand information included.

Import time depends on the size of your Pro-Tech file. Files with thousands of openings create many records throughout the system (products, pricing, BOM, materials). A large file with 40,000+ records can take 25-30 minutes to complete. Allow the import to finish without interruption.

Products & Pricing

When importing Pro-Tech files, the system creates product records with the List Price populated. The Unit Cost is set in the BOM (Bill of Materials) table rather than the product pricing record. New pricing records are only created if one doesn't already exist for that product.

The import will not create duplicate pricing records for products that already exist in TRUE. It checks for existing products by matching identifiers and only creates new pricing records when necessary.

Yes. When BOM records are created during import, entries are automatically added to the Activity Log with timestamps. This provides an audit trail of imported materials and when they were added to the system.
