Purpose
The Staging module manages the organization and preparation of items before shipping. It tracks cartons, pallets, and inventory items as they move from warehouse locations to shipping areas, ensuring accurate tracking of what's staged, where it's located, and what's ready for shipment.
List View
View and manage all staging records with filtering and search tools
- Track all staged containers and their locations
- Filter by Job, Contract, location, or ticket number

Search Options
The Staging module provides multiple search and filter options to help you quickly find specific staging records.

Selected Record View
Detailed view of individual staging records with container and inventory management
When a staging record is selected from the list view, the Selected Record section displays detailed information about staged containers, items, and shipping options. This view provides the tools needed to manage cartons, track inventory, update locations, and create shipping records.
Details Tabs
The Cartons tab displays packaged items organized in containers, allowing you to manage individual cartons or pallets within the staging record.

Common questions and step-by-step guidance for working with Staging
Staging Operations
Create a staging record to organize items before shipping.
- Navigate to Materials workflow and select Staging
- Click the + (Plus) button in the list view
- Select the Job/Contract the items belong to
- Choose the Location where items are staged
- Add items to the staging record using the Scan or manual entry options
- Click Save to create the staging record
Organize items into cartons or pallets for efficient shipping.
- Open the staging record you want to manage
- Click the Cartons tab to view container information
- Add new cartons by assigning a unique Carton/Pallet ID
- Assign items to specific cartons using the inventory allocation tools
- Print labels for each carton using the Print Label button
Tip: Use barcode scanning to quickly assign items to cartons and update locations.
View all items currently staged in a specific location.
- In the Staging module list view, use the Location filter
- Select the location you want to view
- Click Search to filter results
- Review the Items column to see quantity counts for each staging record
- Generate an Inventory Report using the PDF button for detailed listings
Scanning & Location
Use barcode scanning to quickly update item locations and track inventory.
- Open the staging record you want to update
- Click the Scan button to activate scanning mode
- Use a barcode scanner to scan item barcodes or QR codes
- Verify that scanned items appear in the Inventory tab
- Click Save to record the scanned items in the staging record
Change the storage location when moving staged items to a different area.
- Select the staging record you want to update
- Click the Actions Menu (≡) icon
- Select Change Location from the menu
- Choose the new Location from the dropdown
- Click Save to update the location for all items in the staging record
Note: Use the Location Scan button to update locations quickly using barcode scanning.
Generate labels to identify storage locations for staged items.
- Open the staging record at the location you want to label
- Click the Actions Menu (≡) icon
- Select Location Label from the menu
- Print the generated label and affix it to the storage location
Shipping Integration
Convert staged items into a shipping record for delivery.
- Open the staging record containing items ready for shipment
- Click the New Shipping button in the action bar
- Review the items that will be included in the shipping record
- Verify the Job/Contract and destination information
- Complete shipping details (carrier, tracking number, ship date)
- Click Save to create the shipping record and link it to the staging record
Note: You can also create shipping records from the Actions Menu by selecting Add Shipping.
Associate staging records with work tickets for tracking and documentation.
- Open the staging record you want to link
- Locate the Ticket field in the staging record details
- Enter or select the ticket number you want to associate
- Click Save to create the link
- View linked tickets in the Tickets column of the list view
When staged items are shipped, the staging record tracks the shipping status and updates inventory accordingly.
- The staging record remains linked to the shipping record for tracking purposes
- Inventory quantities are updated based on shipped items
- The staging record shows the associated shipping information in the Tickets column
- You can view the shipping details by opening the staging record and clicking View Job/Contract to see all related shipping records
Configuration & Administration
Access to the Staging module is controlled by user permissions. If you cannot see or access this module:
- Contact your system administrator
- Request the Module Access (Staging) permission (ID #1548)
- Once granted, you'll find the module in the Materials workflow
Note: Administrators can manage permissions in Settings → Users / Access → select user → Access tab.
Configure warehouse locations where items can be staged before shipping.
- Navigate to Settings menu
- Select Locations
- Click New Location to create a staging area
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Staging Area A", "Shipping Dock 1")
- Set the location type and any relevant details
- Click Save to make the location available for staging records
Tip: Use clear, consistent naming conventions for staging locations to make it easy for warehouse staff to find and track items.
Remove a staging record when items have been shipped or the record is no longer needed.
- Open the staging record you want to delete
- Click the Actions Menu (≡) icon
- Select Delete from the menu
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Warning: Deleting a staging record is permanent and cannot be undone. Ensure the record is no longer needed before deleting.
